A message from Arlene Peasnall, Senior Vice President, Human Resources Consulting, Labor Relations & the Office of Labor Management Partnership, Kaiser Permanente; Jim Pruitt, Vice President, LMP and National Labor Relations, The Permanente Federation; and Hal Ruddick, Executive Director, Alliance of Health Care Unions.
Managers and Alliance-Represented Employees,
We are pleased to announce that Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance of Health Care Unions will begin bargaining on May 6 to reach a new national agreement. Our talks will be the largest negotiations involving health care workers in the United States this year.
Bargaining sessions are scheduled throughout the summer. We aim to reach agreement before the 2021 Alliance National Agreement expires September 30.
Key bargaining topics include:
- Staffing and patient care
- Labor-management partnership effectiveness
- Economic subjects like across-the-board wage increases
- Artificial intelligence and technology
During bargaining, management and labor representatives will use interest-based negotiations to understand each other’s priorities and identify creative solutions to problem solve.
This approach is foundational to our Labor Management Partnership. It has yielded better outcomes and enhanced working relationships and support for the national agreement.
